Dear Butte
County Families:
Well,
Pirates, here we are again! Summer has somehow disappeared, school buses are
being dusted off, and parents everywhere are asking, “How did August get here
so fast?”
The first
day of school is Monday, August 24, and we are excited to welcome our students
back to school. A new school year brings new classes, new teachers, new goals,
and new opportunities to learn, grow, and make memories.
This year,
we have one simple request: Let's shoot for 100% attendance during the first nine
weeks!
We know
that kids get sick, families have emergencies, and life doesn't always
cooperate with the school calendar. We understand. But when students are
healthy and able to attend, being at school matters.
Every day
in school is another opportunity to learn, build relationships, participate in
activities, and stay connected to classmates and teachers. Attendance also
matters to our district financially. Student attendance and enrollment are
important factors in Idaho's school funding system. When our students show up,
our district is better positioned to receive the funding associated with
serving them.
So, in the
simplest terms: Kids showing up helps kids learn and it also helps our schools.
Our goal
is to build a culture where attending school every day that students reasonably
can is the norm. Attendance isn't simply about avoiding an absence; it's about
being part of our school community.
So let's
start this year strong. Get the backpacks ready. Find the shoes. Locate the
water bottles that mysteriously disappeared in May. Set the alarm clocks. And
on August 24, send us your Pirates!
We'll be
ready for them.
Thank you

schools. We are excited about the year ahead and proud to be part of this
community.
